Studio Inktvis fell in love with RISO because of the intense and richly colored prints it produces. The RISO printing process is very similar to screen printing. The final print has a handmade look—beautiful, not perfect. The process is also environmentally friendly. The ink is made from ethically sourced soybean oil, and the masters are printed on Japanese wax paper. The machine consumes very little energy because RISO printing is a cold printing process.
